Lice

About this service

Your child gets home from school with lice — oh no! Lice spread easily from person to person through contact or through sharing items such as hats and hairbrushes. Lice won’t go away without treatment and aggressive scratching can cause infection. Our practitioners can evaluate and recommend the proper treatment, so that you can be lice-free sooner.

What to know before your visit

Patients with the following may be directed to another health care provider:

  • Infestation of eyelashes

What to expect at your visit

  1. Sign in at the electronic kiosk to see a nurse practitioner or physician assistant.* No appointment necessary.
  2. Your practitioner will review your medical history, discuss your symptoms, conduct a visual exam of the infected area and provide a personalized treatment plan. This could include over-the-counter or prescription medication.
  3. At the end of your visit, your practitioner will provide you with a summary, a receipt and educational material.
  4. The summary of your visit can be sent to your primary care provider with your permission.

*MinuteClinic® employs physician assistants in select states. See here for details.
†If medically appropriate, practitioners may write a prescription.
