Antifungal Spray

Antifungal spray and similar medications help treat minor skin infections, such as ringworm, athlete’s foot and jock itch. They aid in alleviating such skin problems by helping prevent the growth of the fungus that causes the infection. You’ll find many such products to choose from at CVS.

What are the Best Antifungal Spray Brands?

Is Antifungal Cream Or Spray Better?

Antifungal medications may come in cream or spray form. Determining what's better for you depends on your skin type. For individuals who have dry skin, a cream may be best. But for someone who has oily skin or sweats a lot, a spray may be better because it dries in a powder-like form that could help absorb excess moisture and prevent fungal growth.

Whatever type of antifungal medication you choose, it's important to keep the affected area uncovered as much as possible. Wear loose clothing or footwear that won't rub or press against the infected skin. If you have athlete's foot, let your feet air out often. When it's time to wear shoes, wear them with socks that help pull moisture away from your skin. Change both shoes and socks at least twice daily.

Does Antifungal Spray Work On Ringworm?

Ringworm isn’t a worm at all. It’s a fungal infection that appears as a circular rash on the skin, which is usually red, itchy and scaly to the touch.

Antifungal spray for feet isn't just for athlete's foot. It may also be effective in treating ringworm. It comes in a liquid spray, such as Tinactin Athlete's Foot Antifungal Treatment Liquid Spray, or a powder spray like Tinactin Athlete's Foot Antifungal Treatment Powder Spray

What’s The Best Antifungal Spray?

Medical experts describe the best antifungal spray as containing the active ingredient, miconazole nitrate. CVS Health Athlete's Foot Spray, Liquid has such an ingredient and is recommended for both ringworm and athlete's foot. Experts also suggest Lotrimin AF Athlete's Foot Liquid Spray as one of the best antifungal medications.

How Do You Use Antifungal Medications?

Before applying an antifungal medication, wash the infected area with antibacterial soap and pat it dry with a clean cloth or towel. Follow the directions on the package. For ringworm, apply or spray a thin layer on the outside ridge of the circular rash, working toward the center. For athlete's foot, pay attention to the areas between the toes.

Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water to help prevent the infection from spreading to other parts of your body. You could also help prevent reinfection by always wearing sandals in public showers and keeping your nails short with a good pair of nail clippers
